Most of you have probably seen the old Tom Hanks film, The Money Pit. After being a home owner for a little over a week, I realized how true to life this scenario is with a house.
"Fun" things with owning a house:
- New fence (destruction of old fence and carting off)
- New paint - picking the paint - fun, but frustrating
- De-wallpapering and texturing 2 rooms (for the love of God and sanity of your fellow man, NEVER, and I mean NEVER wallpaper a room!!!)
- New floor - destruction of old floor, picking new tile, mortar and grout
- New door knobs/locks - safety first ladies
Oh, Lowes and Home Depot how you have become our friends! (pictures to follow!)

I like how this is the VERY next post after "A House of Our Very Own!" Haha! But it's so fun, and it's YOURS. That's YOUR tile and wallpaper that you get to throw out and replace with something new and beautiful. Can't wait to see it!

I had never seen that movie until we moved to Palestine and remodeled that huge house. Boy, was that an eye-opener. We had decorated many times, but construction? Whew...time and money, baby, time and money!

Well at least you are getting all this work done at the beginning so you can be settled in and just enjoy it once you get done. Can't wait to see more pictures!!
What's really silly, is that it is not really a fixer-upper - just an updater. It has a great layout, but just needed a face lift. And yes, it will be great to get it done and start enjoying it!
